'Free Cannabis Month' Sep 99
With the 71st anniversary of the prohibition of cannabis on Tuesday September 28th, and a medical cannabis bill due in Parliament on the 5th November, the next few weeks sees cannabis action nationwide in the UK.
"The prohibition of cannabis is one of the biggest mistakes in British legal history. It costs the British tax payer about one billion pounds a year to enforce, and after 71 years needs to be sorted out urgently" said a spokesperson for the Cannabis Coalition (UK) which has announced a 'Free Cannabis Month' of cannabis related events:
Every Saturday in September: 'Picnic' in Corporation Park, Blackburn, Lancashire (Home of Jack Straw M.P.). Also information stall in the town centre and from a shop right across the road from Blackburn Rovers FC (Jack's fav team!!!). People will be outside the games giving free cannabis info and stickers. Thurs Sep 9th (9/9/99): Cannabis Prisoners Day. "There's people in jail!" - say organisers who are calling on supporters nationwide to " Do something high quality" on this unique date. Note: There are enough cannabis prisoners in the UK to fill four and a half typical sized prisons, plus there are over 72,000 arrests for cannabis every year.
Weds Sep 15th: TV Broadcast: 'Living with the Enemy', BBC 2. (9.00pm). The challenge is to live for a week with your complete opposite and if possible convert them to your view. In this film rabid anti cannabis person James Hellyer is 'anti-matched' with the 'Exodus Collective' for whom the cannabis herb is the 'healer of the nations' and an essential ingredient for the future survival of humanity. The plan was for them all to end up at the Mayday festival on Clapham Common but Hellyer lasts just four days and then went to the police to make a formal complaint. Rivetting viewing.
Friday - Sunday, Sept 17-19, 1999: Cannabusiness 1999. The 4th International 'CannaBusiness' trade show near Cologne, Germany, does not separate between "rope" and "dope". Starting at High Noon from Speakers Corner, Mr Free Rob Cannabis shall be presenting a talk about Cannabis Liberation. After the talk there will be a 'peace pipe ceremony'. Signatures will be collected for a petition asserting everyones basic human right to being allowed to cultivate and use the planet's most valuable plant; cannabis.

Tues Sep 28th: 71st Anniversary of the Prohibition of Cannabis in Britain. Actions throughout the country against "One of the biggest mistakes in British legal history". In London a 'Cannabis Wreath' will be laid in memory of all the 'drug war' victims in prisons throughout the world for cannabis (7000 in the UK, 30,000 in California etc). Thurs Sep 30th: TV Broadcast: 'Herb 99'. TV Broadcast: 'Herb 99', Channel Four TV (1.30am). An cut and paste documentary of the Mayday cannabis march & event on Clapham Common plus pro and anti talking heads and acts from the day including Howard Marks and Mark Thomas. Middle England will hate it and maybe you will too. Note: Channel 4's lawyers said the film was "too pro cannabis" so broadcast was delayed to hack in the views of an ever deminishing minority - those who believe prohibition is working.
